What is Artictulation? How do I receive College Credit while in High School?
Most ROP classes are Tech Prep Classes!
What Is Tech Prep?
Tech Prep is an educational process that allows students to earn college credit while in high school. A Tech Prep Program also provides academic preparation for a career pathway. Tech Prep student begin their program of study in high school and then transition into college to earn a certificate, Associate in Arts Degree or continue their education leading to advanced degrees. The Tech Prep Program awards college credit to high school students who receive a “B” or better in a career technical course that is articulated. Students do not pay for high school Tech Prep courses so they save on college tuition and save time by not having to repeat those courses.
What is articulation?
Articulation is a process which links a high school and college course. An articulated course is one in which the high school teachers and Palomar College faculty have formally agreed that the high school course outline, syllabus, textbook, and final exam are comparable to those in a course of the same major at Palomar College. It allows high school students to receive college credit and/or advanced placement for articulated classes taken in high school. By encouraging enrollment in both high school and college, articulation provides an incentive for students to continue their education, reduces costs to the students and minimizes needless duplication of coursework.
