Weather & Meteorology


Students learn terms and definitions associated with weather. Information is gathered from computer programs, the RBV weather station, NOAA and GOES images downloaded from an on-site satellite dish and antenna, and the Internet. Students analyze this information in order to forecast weather for the following day. Satellite images are enhanced and examined through computer software programs.

Resources include: 486 computer, USA Today Weather Book, satellite dish, polar antenna, Davis Weatherlink Station, and the Internet. Software includes: Accuweather, WeFax, Weather Link, and Netscape.

Career paths include: I.B. Science Career Path, Weather Analyst, National Weather Service, Satellite Technician.
