STAFF/STUDENTS

ALL STAFF AND STUDENTS: The First IB THINK TANK of the year is Monday, September 13th at 7pm in the PAC.  The topic is Poverty and Effects on Society.  Come discuss how students at Rancho can help to create awareness, encourage community action, and make change!  Seating will be limited, so get there on time to get a spot.

 

STUDENTS, the Science Olympiad informational meeting will be during lunch, Thursday 9/9 in Room 126.

 

ATTENTION NCTD BUS RIDERS:  Remember that there is a loading zone for the NCTD bus at the top of the student parking lot after school each day.  Students can board the bus at this location without having to walk to the bus stop on Melrose.

 

CSF APPLICATIONS for the Fall Semester are now available in the front office and are due on Friday, September 10.  Please remember that you must re-apply each semester.  Please see Mrs. Owen or Mrs. Rieger if you have any questions.

 

STUDENTS- Parking tag enforcement has begun!!  Please bring your paperwork and your car, to the ticket booths at the Stadium.  From 7:00am until 8:00 am and continue EVERY DAY after school from 2:45 3:15 until September 13th.

 

TUTORING/ STUDYING OPPORTUNITIES

 

THE Math Lab is open in Room 822, both before (6:30-7:30 am) and after school from (2:30-4:00pm) Come and get expert help on your HOMEWORK.

 

AP/IB NEWS

IB CLUB: Come to the first IB Club meeting of the year, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH AT LUNCH IN Room 244.  We have lots of events to discuss and we will elect officers and representatives.  All grades are welcome! Come help us make a difference.

 

CLUBS  

ENCUENTROS LATINO LEADERSHIP CLUB will hold an informational meeting for boys and girls in Room 705 on Friday (September 10).  Please join us!

 

GAY-STRAIGHT ALLIANCE CLUB (GSA) will be hosting their 1st informational meeting TODAY, WEDNESDAY SEPT.8 ,during lunch in Room 127.  Come and join us!

 

KEY CLUB in Room 117 every TUESDAY DURING LUNCH.  Have fun while making a difference in your community.

 

WRITER’S CLUB is for anyone who loves to hear a good story or even come up with their own.  Let your imagination run wild!  Join us on Tuesdays in lunch in Room 112.

GEAR UP, FOR SENIORS!  Finally, your last year has arrived!  Have you decided what college you’re going to?  Gear Up is offering a “COLLEGE SEARCH WORKSHOP” that will help narrow down your options between the UC’s  CSU’s and Private Universities. A lot of vital information will be provided.  Make sure to start your last year here right, and don’t miss out.  See you all there!  Come to the Media Center in the Library Sept. 21st from 12:30-1:30 and 2:30-4:00.

 

JUNIORS AND SENIORS College visits begin in September!  You can check them out on Naviance.  You must sign up to attend on Naviance, or in the Career Center.

 

This is a reminder about the PSAT, a practice test for the SAT.  This test impacts all students because of the modified bell schedule that week.  The PSAT will take place on Wednesday, October 13th at 7:30 a.m.  All juniors are already registered and have had their fees paid, courtesy of the Gear-Up Program.  Juniors who already paid at registration can go to the Finance Office for a refund.  Sophomores or Freshman interested in taking this practice SAT must register in the Finance Office and pay $20. by Friday, October 8th.  Seniors and students not taking the PSAT test will arrive to school at 10:30 am on this day.  For more information, please see the RBV website.

 

ASVAB CAREER EXPLORATION TEST will be given in the PAC SEPTEMBER 17TH at 7:30am.  All 10th, 11th and 12th grade students please sign up in the Career Center as soon as possible!

 

SPORTS

 

GIRLS GOLF  if you are interested in playing, come to Room 321 or Room 344 to find out more information.  Experience is not necessary!  All are WELCOME!

 

SURF TEAM- Come surf for Rancho, or surf with friends.  Meet in Room 806 on Wednesdays during lunch.
