The San Diego County Regional Occupational Program offers job training. Students can earn a certificate and college credit in many of the ROP courses offered at RBV.

Business and Computer Applications Business and Financial Services Computer Animation Digital ART Computerized Graphic Design Sports Medicine Virtual Enterprise Web Design I and II
ROP Business & Computer Applications (BACA) I / II
BACA offers both a beginning and an intermediate/advanced course for students wishing to develop software skills and general office skills. Students enrolled in either course receive instruction in job acquisition and retention skills (including resumes, online job searches, interview skills, etc.).
 

ROP Business & Computer Applications I
Students in BACA I learn proper keyboarding technique, word processing (using Microsoft Word), and an introduction to the other components of the Microsoft Office software suite.

ROP Business & Computer Applications II
Students in BACA II learn advanced office skills including: business letters, report writing, tables, mail merge, spreadsheet, business presentations and database fundamentals using the components of the Microsoft Office software suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access).

  ROP Business & Financial Services
Learn about the exciting world of Business and Finance. Students will be introduced to the world of business to help prepare them for the economic roles of consumer, worker, and citizen. Students will learn about the major functions of commercial banks, savings and loan associations, credit unions, investment companies and consumer finance companies. In addition, students will be provided with a foundation of financial planning This course provides students with entry-level training leading to employment opportunities in retail banking and the finance industry and will serve as a background for other business courses the student may take in the future. Students who are enrolled in this course and who are working may earn additional credit toward graduation by co-enrolling in the internship program.

Computer Animation
Computer Animation offers both beginning and advanced instruction.
  Computer Animation 1
This course introduces computer animation authoring with an emphasis on multimedia HTML web design. Multimedia designers can create a blend of text, pictures, music, and graphics. Students will use Macromedia FLASH to create animated movies, multimedia web sites, E-greeting cards, and cartoons for publishing on the Internet and on CD-ROM. Instruction emphasizes the creative and technical process of working from the initial concept to the final commercial product including; story boarding, editing MP3 music files, creating original graphics, and page layout for the Internet. Careers in web design and multimedia production are explored. During the course students will produce an online digital portfolio .Students who are enrolled in this class and who are working may earn additional credit toward graduation by co-enrolling in the ROP internship program.

  Computer Animation 2
Prerequisite:Completion of Computer Animation I or approval of instructor.
This course offers intermediate to advanced training using FLASH, Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, and training in Final Cut, Sound Forge Studio, Illustrator, and Painter. Students develop presentation quality, digital portfolios for publishing on the Internet or on CD ROM. Further your skills in the creation of complex multimedia projects. Learn advanced HTML web design, edit digital photos, video, and audio; develop advanced digital drawing skills, cartooning and cinematic techniques; combine animation with interactivity, and implement FLASH ActionScript. Portfolio projects include: multimedia animations, e-greeting cards, learning interactions, presentations, simple FLASH games, and web sites for non-profit organizations, schools, or businesses. Careers in Web Design, Animation and Multimedia Production are explored. Students who are enrolled in this class and who are working may earn additional credit toward graduation by co-enrolling in the ROP internship program.

Computerized Graphic Design
Computerized Graphic Design is a 2-year program at Rancho.
 

Computerized Graphic Design I
Learn how to use Draw, Photo Editing, and Page Layout for both print and electronic mediums (like the Internet and multimedia). Students will explore the possibilities of working in the fields of commercial art like web design, advertising, graphic design, printing etc. either in-house, with a company or freelance. This course articulates with Palomar College . Students who are enrolled in this course and who are working may earn additional credit toward graduation by co-enrolling in the ROP internship program.

Computerized Graphic Design II
Prerequisite: Completion of Graphic Design I or approval of instructor.
Students will further their skills by learning how to conduct presentations using multimedia techniques; develop advanced digital drawing and photo imaging techniques; create electronic home pages and catalogues, as well as ads, newsletters, brochures for traditional printing. This course articulates with Palomar College. Students who are enrolled in this course and who are working may earn additional credit toward graduation by co-enrolling in the ROP internship program.

  Digital Arts
Earn 10 units of credit in Fine Arts, or Commercial Art credits and a ROP Certificate in Digital Arts. Learn about the basic elements of art including design, drawing, painting, and lettering. Students will learn commercial art applications such as design, illustration, animation and advertising.

Sports Medicine
  Sports Medicine
This course provides entry-level instruction in sports medicine and athletic training.  It is designed for high school students, 16 years and older.  Employment possibilities include athletic trainer assistant, sports medicine aide, physical therapy aide, etc. Instruction covers the following areas: anatomy, physiology of muscle groups and skeletal system, vital signs, CPR, and safety factors related to sports medicine. Opportunity for students to have supervised involvement with the training needs and treatment of injuries of students involved in athletics on campus.

Virtual Enterprise
  Virtual Enterprise
Rather than walking into a classroom, students will walk into a business. You will actively participate in creating and running a business to prepare you for work in the real world. You'll participate in all aspects of a real start-up business including: Creating and presenting business plans, applying for a business loan, managing company finances, applying and interviewing for positions, developing employee policies, creating sales tools and advertisements, and managing the day-to-day operations of a business. Students who are enrolled in this class and who are working may earn additional credit toward graduation by co-enrolling in the ROP internship program.

Web Design
ROP Web Design offers both beginning and advanced instruction.
  Web Design I
Learn how to create and design web sites. This course offers training in HTML web design techniques and animation authoring using FLASH. Students will focus on commercial art, web page layout and animation software. Create original graphics, learn page layout techniques for the Internet, add motion with JavaScript, manipulate digital photos in Photoshop, record sounds, and edit MP3 files for use in animations or for downloading from web pages. Web sites, digital art, and animation projects will be prepared for publishing on the Internet and on CD-ROM. Careers in web design, multimedia production, and graphic design are explored. During the course students will produce an online digital portfolio. Students who are enrolled in this class and who are working may earn additional credit toward graduation by co-enrolling in the ROP internship program

Examine FLASH actions and action scripting, use multiple media sources within FLASH, and explore combining animation with interactivity. Students will learn advanced digital drawing skills, photo editing and cartooning techniques. Incorporate interactive forms, style sheets, and JavaScript on web pages. Projects will be prepared for publishing on the Internet or on CD-ROM. Careers in web design, animation, and multimedia production.
