SATURDAY SCHOOL AT THE RANCH

Saturday School has changed!

At RBV, Saturday school serves multiple purposes. It is usually assigned by an Assistant Principal for a variety of disciplinary reasons.  In this case, a student should bring a book to read, or be prepared to be given work to complete.  Students assigned for disciplinary reasons will also be able to hear presenters speak on topics such as Health, Safety, and School Attendance.

For students who are struggling academically, Saturday School also provides a venue for these students to receive additional tutoring.  Gear up mentors offer tutoring for students who voluntarily show up to Saturday School.  RBV Math teacher Mrs. Talpos is also often present at Saturday School to offer students additional math tutoring and Math CAHSEE preparation.

Finally, the RBV Attendance office also generates a Saturday School list.  Saturday school also provides an opportunity for the chronically absent or truant student to make-up the time they missed at school, and allows the school to recuperate funding that eventually makes its way back to the school and its students.

Saturday School is located in the school media center (library) and is from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon). For students assigned by the attendance office or their Assistant Principal, failure to attend Saturday School may result in suspension (1-3 days).

Please refer to the Conduct Code Violations and Consequences chart in the RBV Student handbook for more information.
